Since 1901 - Austria's oldest Wheat Beer Brewery

1987 – 1998

1987 – 1998

In 1987, the nurses' home was no longer needed. The master brewer at the time, Otto Ratgeber, fell ill and the search for a tenant proved unsuccessful.
Therefore, the state of Salzburg decided to sell the property to Hans Georg Gmachl, who was committed to continuing running the brewery and inn.

The new owner renovated the legendary Stüberl pub within a mere few days and even reopened the beautiful chestnut garden Kastaniengarten on July 11, 1987. The brewery was leased to Bernd Tobisch, who had been a customer until then. He was a home brewer and a friend of the brewer at the time, Otto Ratgeber.

In 1988, the old restaurant in the main building was reopened, which still had almost everything from earlier Rupertihof times. Then, Gust Absmann joined the small team.

In 1992, the veranda was enlargened and the Zirbenstube parlor was annexed, doubling the seating capacity.

Die WEISSE saw continuous growth and the brewery was bursting at the seams. Only the Bräustüberl pub was not as successful anymore as it once was. Meanwhile, it had been renamed Stockinger and became a self-service bar, which was closed in the year..., however.
